After much prayer and waiting, we’re so excited to share that our family is growing... with TWINS! 🤍🤍

As many of you know, pregnancy after loss comes with a unique mix of overwhelming gratitude and cautious joy. We are incredibly thankful for these two little miracles and would appreciate your prayers as we continue this journey.

With that exciting news also comes a small business update.

To ensure I can continue providing every family with the high level of support they deserve, I’ll be making a few temporary changes to my availability for the remainder of this pregnancy.

✨ Birth doula services: My birth schedule is now fully booked, and I will not be taking on any additional birth clients for the remainder of my pregnancy.

✨ Postpartum support and childbirth education will continue as my health and schedule allow.

✨ My online courses, free resources, and Aligned Motherhood gatherings will continue as planned!

Supporting families is still one of my greatest joys, but my first ministry right now is also caring for these two little babies and my own family.

Thank you for your understanding, encouragement, and prayers as we navigate this season.

to try to reduce tearing.

But research hasn’t shown it to be consistently protective -
and in some cases, it may increase strain on the tissue.

What matters more than stretching
is how your body is supported in that moment.

Your perineum is designed to stretch gradually,
with time, pressure, and the hormones of labor guiding the process.

When that stretch is rushed or forced,
the tissue has less time to adapt.

That’s where tearing is more likely.

What is more consistently supported in the research:

• Warm compresses during crowning
• Allowing the tissue to stretch gradually
• Avoiding unnecessary force
• A slower, controlled birth of the head

There’s a difference between
supporting your body

Late pregnancy is uncomfortable.
Exhausting.
Emotional.

Feeling “done” is real and valid.

But “I’m over it” and “baby is unsafe” are not the same thing.

Induction is a medical intervention, not just a scheduling option.

Like any intervention, it comes with trade-offs that can change the course of labor.

Induction may involve:
• Stronger, more intense contractions
• Increased need for monitoring
• Less freedom to move
• A higher likelihood of additional interventions

In many situations, medically necessary induction is absolutely the right choice - and can be life-saving.

But it’s often presented as a casual or routine option… when it’s not necessary.

There’s a difference between:
• Medical need
• Preference or convenience

Understanding that difference matters.

You’re allowed to ask:
• “What is the medical reason for this?”
• “What are the risks and benefits for me specifically?”

Engorged? Spraying milk everywhere? Feeling that wild “firehose” let-down? Deep breath, Mama - this is common in the early days and you can fix it without a pump!

🌿 Why engorgement happens:
Your milk “comes in” faster than your baby can drink - so your breasts feel rock-hard, hot, swollen, or painful.

💦 Why overactive let-down happens:
Your let-down reflex releases milk fast (thanks, oxytocin!). Baby may sputter, choke, or pull off because the flow is too strong.

✋ The SIMPLE fix:
HAND EXPRESS - not pump! Just enough to soften the breast. Not emptying, not storing… just comfort.

✨ Why hand expression > pumping:

Pumping increases milk production (your body thinks you have twins!)

Hand expression relieves pressure without overstimulating supply

Prevents worsening engorgement, clogged ducts, and mastitis

Helps baby latch deeply again

Avoids creating an oversupply you’ll have to manage later

🍼 Bottom line:
Engorged? Fast let-down?
👉 Hand express a little. Latch baby. Repeat as needed.
Your supply will regulate beautifully.
